Yan Hou Tang 10 Years Aged Organic Chinese Yunan Puerh Tea Black Lump Tuo Cha Ripe Fermented 100 Gram - Non-GMO Detox Weight Loss US FDA SGS Verified
Having grown up steep in English heritage, steeping tea is my traditional evening creed especially during the cold winter nights or when I am feeling under the weather. Right now, I have both going on: It's cold and I feel like I am coming down with the winter bug.
I found myself drawn to Yan Hou Tang's Tea which ferments their teas for 10-years in a warehouse; love trying out new teas. This is their organic "Pu'erh" Black Yunnan Tea.
"Aged Pu’erh tea is made in the Yunnan Province; tea gardens and farms are located in high mountains of Yiwu, Menghai, Dali."
It is packed into a bundt shape and hardens during the 10-year fermentation process; forewarning you, it is really hard to break! I ended up taking a meat mallet to it just to loosen enough to try our my first cup of tea. The whole semi-circle would be perfect for a large gathering; really neat actually and I wanted to do it, but it was only me to start with. I say start with because my youngest also has an affinity for hot tea in the eve, okay, only if it's mine and I end up making myself another cup.
These leaves may have been drying out for 10 years, but the flavor did not lessen; immediately started turning my hot water into a beautiful dark brown.
What a flavor! The scent and flavor is rich, bold, and earthy. So, if you like light teas, I highly recommend only using a little bit. As for me, I love strong teas and this was absolutely divine!
Directions from site:
Use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8oz/200ml of water. Heat water to 175F/80C and steep for 2-3 minutes.
Exceptional tea that I highly recommend!
