Mini Smart Plug

Have you ever heard the phrase Internet of Things?  The long definition is: “the interconnection via the Internet of computing devices embedded in everyday objects, enabling them to send and receive data.”  The simple definition is a device not normally connected to the internet now has this ability. The internet really makes life easier and when you start adding features to common household items it can make life a little easier as well. I saw this Mini Smart Plug online a while ago and wondered if I would ever have any use for one.  The answer to that question is a definite yes! In fact, I now want a bunch of them!

Before getting into the reasons why one would want these plugs all over your house, let me explain the features of this model:

A timer function – which allows you to turn off your appliances on and off at the touch of the button. You can schedule anything that plugs in from AC, Lights (for security reasons when you are away), TV, and so much more. Create groups and share them. This allows one person to set it all up and then share with your family. Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.  At this time, I do not have either of these devices, but from what I read online it seems like a really cool ability.  I might drop by my parent’s house and test it out as they have one, if I do I will update this review later. Remote control with a Simple App.  I downloaded the app online and it was extremely easy to get everything setup.  Everyone in my family uses iPhones so I can’t say how easy it is with the Androids, but I am sure it is similar.

I really like this plug for the security it can provide when you are on vacation.  You can get a few of these devices and schedule lights to go on and off while you are gone. It allows some easy of mind during these horrible times we live in.

Like I said this is extremely easy to setup and use.  I highly recommend picking up a few for your household needs.
