great for learning

I really like this geoboard. The board is made from a solid piece of wood that is about 8 inches long by 8 inches wide and is about ½ inch thick. The wood is very sturdy and will not chip or crack. It has 64 metal pegs with rounded heads for safety and to hold the rubber bands securely in place. The set also includes two packages of rubber bands in different sizes and colors. The rubber bands are really strong and will not break easily which will protect her from getting hurt if they snap. There are 19 geometric cards that have designs that the kids can recreate on the geoboard. There are 5 blank cards that allow kids to make their own designs. The cards are laminated so my daughter uses a dry erase marker to draw her designs which allows her to draw and erase her designs to make an endless amount of creations.

I love that this board allows her to learn about different shapes and helps her to figure out beginning to use fractions. It also helps her to strength her fine motor skills and improve her ability to follow visual directions. She can use this board to explore simple shapes and more advanced concepts like symmetry, angles, and fractions. We homeschool and work with Montessori curriculum quite often which uses a board like this but at a much, much higher cost than this board. We took this board with us to our homeschool meeting and the kids loved it. I plan on purchasing a few more of these geoboards for our local co-op group.
