The PlayStation controller is one of my favorite controllers for gaming. I love how it just fits perfectly in your hands. How your hand grabs and contorts to the controller to where it feels like a natural extension of your body. I love how Sony has always had rechargeable controllers right out the gate with the PlayStation 3. With the Xbox, you have the option to either use batteries, or you have to purchase the re-chargeable set separately, which has always been a disappointment to me.
The only problem with the Dual Shock is if you need to charge it you have to plug it into the console unless you have a long enough cable plugged into the wall. When it is charging the controllers are just out and about making your entertainment console a mess. I have been looking for a nice solution to charge my controllers while keeping everything tidy and organized, or rather my wife has. When I found this charging station, I knew I had to have it.
This station allows you to plug in two of your controllers to charge at once. The controllers fit very snugly into their docking station. I really like the LED lights that tell you the status of the charge. When the LED is red it indicates that the controllers are currently charging, while the blue light indicates that the controller is fully charged and ready to be used. I notice it takes about 2-4 hours to fully charge a dead controller, which is not too bad at all. I really like the aesthetics of the charging station, especially with the controllers docked. It really has a nice sleek look and feels to it. The plastic is very sturdy yet lightweight. The base contains some anti-slip material, so it stays gripped on the surface if it is bumped into.
My only complaint with the station is trying to put it together. I did have a hard time trying to snap the base into place, but this is such a minor gripe, and once it is together it will stay that way.
