For many months, I steered clear of wireless headphones since I purchased my last pair back in the Summer. They cost around $20 from a local retailer that sold nearly everything you could imagine — and they weren’t Wal-Mart. Nevertheless, they headphones were great in the all the right ways. Since then, I never left without them as they were always in my car and something that I’ve chuck into my backpack on daily commutes. A couple months back, they snapped after a little incident during a longboarding session at the beach. Ever since, I’ve been locked down with cheaply made wired earphones that barely meet my needs. I’m not very picky but I do enjoy quality like everyone else.

Fast-forward to three and a half weeks in January 2018, I receive a pair of headphones that I consider: ‘Not-Too-Bad $30’ alternatives. They’re made from a company known as LOBKIN and are available in three colors: blue, red, and pink. We have the blue pair that is more eye-pleasing than I thought. With a matte-like finish on the exterior that compliments the earmuffs and overall design.

Picking them up for the first time, I could tell that they weren’t made with say carbon fiber let along a great amount of aluminum. On the other hand, they are lightweight and very easy-feeling when wearing them for hours at a time. Despite the slightly-below-average quality, the audio was superb. The 40mm drivers made it feel like I was able to tune out excess sounds from around me, which created a noise-cancelling like an effect. This is perfect for whenever I’m editing videos, listening to music, or just watching YouTube videos.

And if trace back to the quality of the headphones once more, I will like to point out something that drew my attention the most. According to LOBKIN, the earmuffs are created with memory-protea ear cushion. Therefore, they “simulate human skin texture” that adds to their ever-lasting comfort level. I’m not against their theory and attempt to create very comfortable headphones, but then again the way they worded it was a bit…well off. Then again, it might just be me (and hundreds of other people).

No matter how you look at it, they are great and very easy to carry with on any commute. The foldable design makes it a snap to chuck into my backpack, my car’s seat pocket, and various small spaces.

These are once again ‘Not-Too-Bad’ $30 headphones that makes enjoying audio worth every single dollar. And lastly, the connectivity for them is as expected with an added surprise. They included support for a TF/Micro SD card if you would like to listen to audio from another source. I didn’t find myself using this feature too often since all my content is digitally available via YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud. But, I do appreciate the added support. As well as, the built-in FM radio that doesn’t work very well. It struggles to find audible stations and always gives back static no matter what.

Despite that little flaw in their master plan, I would say these are my favorite pair of headphones for under $30. And yes, I’ll be picking up another pair for the wife in her favorite color — pink!
