I bought this hover ball for my three year old son for Christmas. He will love it, I'm sure. Perfect for an active and energetic child. It's fun for a 40 year old to play with also.....I know because I had to test it out myself. I had fun with it and am looking forward to playing with it with him. This is truly a great toy for all ages!
The hover ball takes 4 AA batteries to operate. The batteries I used to test it were old and not very strong but you would never know it. The lights inside of it were bright and colorful. A fan inside of it blows air underneath it making it glide easily across the floor. Even with weak batteries the fan was blowing strongly. I can just imagine how strong it will be with fresh batteries. Around the edges is a thick foam bumper so that when it hits a wall it simply bumps off it and keeps going. I am impressed at how well it is made and how good it works.
My one complaint and the reason I only give it a 4 star rating is....the music. As far as the sound goes it's loud and clear. Doesn't break up or sound like gibberish. The problem is it's one song and after about a minute of it playing I was looking to see if there was a way to turn the music off. It quickly gets to be annoying. Unfortunately there is no way to turn the music off or even turn the volume of it down some. I believe that it would be a good idea to have the option to turn of the music. Another option would be for it to have a few different songs that it alternates between. I do like the fact that it has music and sounds I just wish there was a variety or at least the option to choose whether you wanted to hear any or not.
Overall I really like this hover ball. It will entertain and be fun to play with. Also it can be great for exercise and coordination. I am planning on trying to find two small goals to use with it and I already have a spot in the house picked out to set it up in. I am looking forward to having fun with my son, playing while also getting exercise.
